What to feed zoas

We just got our first corals and fish and two of the corals we got are smal zoa frags (the other is silver pulsing xenia) and the person we got them off of said they shouldn't need feed anything. his system is much larger than mine 3000 gallon coral farm, so i'm figuring he has alot more stuff floating around in his system for them to eat. i was just wondering should i feed them or not. i've heard DTs phytoplankton is a good food for them any other recommendations? should it just be dumped in the tank or squirted right at them?

thanks for all the help guys and gals, we'll get some pics up of them in our showcase thread tonight.

You don't have to feed them, but for some of us it is fun to do. I do use DT's and other things and target feed. Anything that will let you get the food to hover over them so they can suck it in. You don't like things blown in your face and neither do they. You'll need to turn off your filter and pumps for a few minutes so the water get's still, then squirt the food in over the colony so it settles over them. Once they get used 2 you doing this, they will close up on the food. They will reward your trouble with better colors, faster growth and possibly babies.

Either way, have fun and enjoy your new animals.

I don't target feed, pretty much I do the same as Lytehouse. Turn off the pumps and let the food drift down to them. I feed the fish and things a mix of food stuff, but mysis and brine shrimp are some the zoos can get a hold of.
