what to make from...

Frag swapper has nearly 800 frags on it now. This is an amazing number to say the least. I would have no guess what the Ohio record number is but would not be surprised to be close or past it.

Occurances such as this do not happen for no particular reason. Should we read into this milestone (or near milestone) and see (A) a sign of reef keeping in our area reaching a new and great place?

(B) a sign of a changing economy either still sinking, holding, or turning a corner.

(C) a combination of the two

thoughts??

Not cheap to do though: right
is the abundance due to groups like this teaching husbandry and the need to reduce wild harvest. People getting good enough at keeping to have excess corals

or is it simply that more people are in the hobby suggesting an economic up turn.

It does not seem likely that people are doing this as a means to boost income as the cost verses the price is a pretty tight margin. This is fine to cover salt and power costs of a big set up but a tough way to feed the family

Usually takes people a bit to figure that out though :D

I was just a bit surprised to see such growth. Norm, maybe you are right about it being just a simple matter of lots of people have put a few pieces aside to sell this year. Maybe one could read more into it as a sign of the times either in keeping or otherwise. or maybe not?!

It is also a testiment to CORA for so many to want to try to sell their goodies at this show.

I know I enjoy coming down to this show. I wish it were closer as I have a few friends here that I would like to see more often but grateful for the times I can meet up with them.

I am geeked to get down here and see all of these great frags in person and pick up a few too!!
Great job to everyone who has put time into getting this show together

The numbers are impressive indeed. If you look back on fragswapper this one is pretty much on par with the others. It makes sense that the numbers on fragswapper have been going up, with more reliance (usage) of fragswapper each year.
From what I have seen is the local concentration seems to be increasing, but it also seems that less people are traveling though.

13th CORA Swap (last time at Grotto):
41 Sellers 345 Listings
139 registered attendants 321 Registered Attendants (196 Adults/125 children)

17th CORA Swap (this year):
46 Sellers 822 Listings
150 Registered users 230 Registered Attendants (216 Adults/14 children)

On average, people have twice as many listings per seller. The items listed are stunning too, some very rare and unique items you never see in the stores.

I heard an entire club from Indiana is canceling their September meeting and making a Road Trip to the CORA Swap. We have Vendors from all over the Midwest.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the Grotto this Saturday.
