Hi friends! It's Carrie and Michael Hamley from the Pittsburgh Marine Aquarium Society, and we'll we headed to Long Island later this week for our annual collecting trip. We usually come much later in the season, so we have no idea what to expect this year. What kinds of tropicals are you finding this season? Any great tips on where to go or what to do?

Lastly, I am in need of a dive buddy over the weekend ( this Fri. or Sat.) to dive the Pongquo Bridge (sorry, not sure how to spell it), so if you would like to dive with me, please let me know! I am not crazy enough to do that dive alone, and my husband and I can't both go because one of us has to stay on shore with our son...

They catch lion fish all the time this time of year off Long Island. A lot of the times near the inlets like moriches, fire island off the great South Bay. They say many Tropicals ride in on the Gulf Stream and get tossed out up here. Sucks they don't make the winter. But that's fish life. The water quality up here is poor at best anyway. :(
