What Tunze stream would you recommend for a 55 gallon?

I want to get a Tunze stream or streams for my 55 gallon tank. Would one Tunze 6000 stream work well? Is it best to have a single controller or a multicontroller for a 55 gallon tank?

I guess I'm not quite sure what the controller does besides controls the speed of the pump. Does it turn the pump on and off, creating waves?

Anyone have any recommendations for a 55 gallon?

Thanks for any help.

get the nanostream 6025 a lot cheaper don't need a controller. But if you want to control a multiple power heads you'll have to get the 6055 nanostreams. A tunze 6000 will be to strong for 55g -- you'll get sand storm with this size on a 55g.

xinumaster, thanks for the help.

if I get two of those nanostreams what controller would I need to place the streams on opposite ends of the tank and have 1 stream go on, then pause then the next go on and repeat. I didn't see the 6055 but I found the 6025. Any suggestions as to where I can buy?

Thank you so much.

The Nano Streams are not yet available. The 6045 or 6055 is what I would recommend. The 6045 could be alternated every 15 minutes on a timer, faster times and traditional wavemakers will damage the pumps. The 6055 is electronically controllable by our 7095 controller and so you can alternate between pumps but you can also vary the pump speed. The 6045 should be available in a few weeks, the 6055 should be available in Mid December.

rvitko, thanks for the help

So it sounds like a 7095 controller and two 6055 pumps will work well for a 55 gallon tank.

Does the electronic controller allow you to shut the pump on and off in short increments without damaging the pump?

Thanks

Yes, you can switch between pumps as quickly as every second, this is possible because the electronics only let the pump spin one way so the mechanical start up issues are avoided. I would try to avoid rapid switch times though as the pump runs warmer and precipitates more calcium this way, I would prefer to change the speed from 30% -100% every few seconds instead.

Ok. Thank you so much, for the help.
How do I get on the list to buy one as soon as they are available?

I want the7055 controller and one or two 6055 nanostreams.

The 7095 is already available, I believe Premium Aquatics, Champion Lighting and Aquarium Specialty are taking preorders already.

If I were to try the nano 6025 for a 55 gallon tank would I need one of them or would two be too much flow?

Thanks

You would definitely need 2, those are made for 10-29 gallon tanks, they only cover a 2ft area.

I suggest you ned to consider if you are likely to upgrade you tank, as I at the moment run a 65 gallon with 2 stream 6000 and a 7095, and yes I changed my sand for some heavy grade. My new larger tank is on its way. You can of course run as low as 30%. either way its a great system, with typical Germanic good build and reliability.
Luck
