What Tunze?

Raise The Reef!
So I have looked into the different Tunze pumps and think I have settled on one. I am thinking of using the 6015 for my new 24g Nano Cube.

I currently own a Voretch MP10w ES and LOVE it! I have used it on a Nano Cube before for about 3 months. It was on my Dad's and he really liked it. So yes, I am a Vortech lover and no, the noise doesn't bother me. My pump has been perfect from day one for me and the noise is quieter than my laptop fan.

However, I want to mod my new tank quite a bit with some LED lights and my Vortech can bring me in the most amount of money to play with my new tank.

I have looked into the 6025 but I think that it might be a little large for the new tank. On my old Nano Cube I ran a Koralia 1 and it worked fine. I had to add a second pump to blow behind the rocks but everything worked out.

On my new tank there will be very minimal rockwork so the flow won't have a huge obstacle to over come.

What does everyone think? I have a Koralia Nano that I can always use if the 6015 isn't enough. I am also concerned about the magnet on the thin glass. JBJ isn't known for using the best and thickest glass on their stuff and I really don't need a magnet cracking my glass for me.

Thanks!

6015 has a very mild strength magnet, it sticks on 1/4" thick glass. 6025 is much stronger, up to 3/4" glass. If you install the magnets properly, by sliding them into alignment rather than clicking them together, there is no risk.

So do you think a 6015 or 6025 will work better on this tank? I am leaning towards the 6025 right now as it will produce about 30x turnover.

I own a couple 6025's. I would use one for your tank-assuming you want high flow, like for sps and stuff.

I wish a local store carried these in person! I am so back and forth right now. I can get 2 of the 6015's for the same price as a 6025 but it will take up more room at that point.

My personal choice money permitting would be a pair of 6055's with a dual controler. However that might be out of your budget range so if you have SPS corals go with the 6025 if you do not have SPS corals the 6015 should do a good enough job for you.

6045 is nice because it has a mechanical flow adjustment so you can have the flow as low as a 6015 or as high as about 50% more than a 6025. The 6015 is about the same as your Korallia Nano, so if you need more than that 6025 is the way to go.

The 6045 is out of range unfortunately. I would just keep the mp10 at that point.

However if the 6015 is as weak as the koralia nano, I will need the 6025.

The flow is different but roughly equivalent, a Korallia has a less focused flow, but if that is not enough then the next size up makes sense.

I guess I should have clarified. The Koralia Nano I have is the old version and only moves like 240gph or something like that. My old Koralia 1 moved around the 420gph range and was pretty good for my old tank.

I think the 6015 will work the best, especially since I will have minimal rock work this time around.

Thanks Roger and others!

That makes sense, I was comparing to the newer Korallia Nano, for the old models I know that a 6025 is roughly somewhere between model 2 and 3. 6015 is roughly like a model 1.
