I suck at stuff like this but it is some sort of carpet. The people who are good at anemone ID are most likely going to ask for a better picture that includes the mouth and column.

thanks guys, thats what i was thinking. I rescued it from a tank shut down, the tank was in really bad shape. Seeing as my tanks only a few months old i may pass it on to someone else for its safety. in the meantime he seems to be enjoying my tank.

I really like rescuing corals from tanks it really makes me feel good to know I give them a good home from the bad tank they came from

We can give an ID with a picture of the column (underside). In that picture it looks like it may be S. helianthus to me, so I'd keep a close eye on it. Especially with your clown in it; they're notorious fish eaters.

It does not look like a S. helianthus to me. We really need to see a picture of the clomn. IME, Helianthus does not have the folds of Haddoni, Giganea or Tapetum.
It look most like a young Haddoni to me.

I'll try and snap a better picture of the column.

There are no spots, there are faint lines that run from foot up

Boy, this is a hard one, in my opinion. It looks like haddoni, but to be happily attached on a rock, doesn't sound at all like a haddoni. Furthermore, to have been in a tank for at least 5 years and only be that size also doesn't seem very haddoni-esque. Haddonies usually have a reddish colored mouth. Noticeably different color compared to the surrounding oral disk. It's not gigantea because it doesn't have the noticeable verrucae. I suppose I would say haddoni at this point, but with some reservations.

My Haddoni is attach to a rock, so +1 for haddoni, also if you are looking for a good home, please keep me in mind. I have a tank set up for these beautiful nems. They really like a lot of light.
Good luck
