what type of clown will host an a bubble tip amenome

I think that really any wild caught pair of clowns could take quite easily to a BTA. But it is a little more tricky to get C/B fish to be hosted something that they have never seen before.

The natural symbiotic clowns for a BTA are Clarkkis and Maroon clowns.

do you have any ideas where I can find wild caught clowns? my lfs's fishtown usa & flushing aquarium give me the run around.

You don't need wild caught clowns for your BTA to host. If you put a maroon or a tomato or a clarkii in with the BTA, you will likely find it goes to the anemone within days, if not hours. If you can buy captive bred, then do. Wild caught clowns are much more likely to have parasites. BTA's are natural hosts for around 12 species of clowns. Unfortunately they are not natural hosts to perculas or occelaris, some of the most commonly available and sought after clowns in the fish trade. However, in captivity, occelaris and percula will often go to a BTA. Tomato, maroon and clarkii are commonly available clownfish that are natural symbionts with BTA's.

do you think liveaquaria wild caught will have parasites? i'm thinking of ordering two true perculas from them.

I couldn't say. If I had the option, I would go with tank-bred. Not only are they healthier, they aren't taking clowns from their anemones in the wild. It's a more responsible move to get captive bred if you have that as an option.

my false perc hosts my RBTA......to be honest the anemone was hosting in like a matter of a month! i was shocked. he sure defends the stink out of it to
pics arent the best but...

i think the funnier part is the baby clown wants to host as well but the big clown puts a stop to that so he hosts in the candy cane coral lol... also the faq does say what clowns host what...but i think thats more of just a suggestions

I GOT 2 TRUE PERCS FROM LIVE AQUARIA, A MEDIUM & A SMALL, UNFORTUNATELY THE MEDIUM DIED OVER NIGHT, BUT THE SMALL WAS MAKING SWEET LOVE TO THE ANEMONE IN LIKE 3 DAYS, I'LL POST PICS SOON...

Glad to hear your percula has taken to the anemone. Though percs aren't natural symbionts with BTA's, they often do take to them in aquariums. Sorry to hear the one clown died. Look forward to the pics.
