what type of mantis is on marine depot live?

That looks like an N. Wennerae, which is one of the few mantis that would do fine in a 10 gallon. But I could very possible be wrong on that id, so get a second opinion. :)

I agree that it looks like a N. wennerae. but I am also a noob and think you should wait for a 2nd opinion (or would that make it a 3rd) sorry can't be more help. tampabaysaltwater.com has N. wennerae there for 50$ and I think that includes shipping. Also no guarentee as to whether all there mantises are the same. for all I know they could give out peacocks, smithii's, wennerae's, spearers etc. with that pic. keep that in mind. good luck

I'm not sure that this is the actual photo of the animal for sale, but this is probably a Gonodactylaceus glabrous or G. graphurus. Note that it is missing the ends of at least two walking legs.

It appears that they just order generic "small mantis shrimp". That means they get whatever the collectors are gleaning from the reef flats - the most abundant and easiest animals to catch. Typically they supply a mix of Gonodactylus chiragra, G. viridis, Gonodactylaceus glabrous, Haptosquilla stoliurus, and Pseudosquilla ciliata. You pays your money and takes your chances!

Check Roy's List at the top of this forum. None will grow very fast. The only one I definitely would not recommend for a 10 gal glass tank would be a large G. chiragra. Also, a really large G. glabrous or G. graphurus would be risky.
