What type of paints to use in fishroom

Hello all I'm almost done mudding my fishroom, and I'm about ready to paint. I would like my walls to be the fort knox of moisture resistance

I plan to use kilz latex2 for the primer which should lock up the drywall pretty good. Is there a preferred paint to use over top of the kilz for high moisture areas.

I didn't know if I could just use a regular semi-gloss/ high gloss, latex/oil base paint.

I also will be using an exaust fan, hooked up to an AIR-2 Temperature/Humidity Controller.

Thank-you in advance.

from seeing other people builds the most common thing that is done is use a 2 Part Epoxy paint (A lot of people use a system from west marine). These are intended to protect surfaces that are underwater and as such REALLY good at high humidity environments. Another idea that I have tossed around in my head but have not seen anyone do is get one of those garage floor paint kits and use it on the walls.
I'm interested in seeing what other people think.

A product called drylock is supposed to be intended for this purpose as well protecting concrete and foundations from outside moisture. However for this application I cant imagine it would work much better than a heavy coat of high gloss latex paint. Im my tank room I used 6mil vapor barrier under 4x8' sheets of pvc sealed with silicone.

If you're looking for "fort knox" kind of salt water resistant coating - go with the epoxy paint. Warning - not for the bargain hunter. The stuff is pricey!

We used exterior paint that was for gulf coastline homes. I also put 4X8' sheets of pvc behind the sump and over my sink and sealed it. We do have exhaust fans in the fishroom and over the tank. I used Sani Tred on the floor and that could be put on walls but since it will permeate the surface you put it on you would not want to put the kilz or dryloc first.

Thank you so far everyone Ill look into some 2-parts and maybe a high gloss latex.

Tex y wouldn't you recommend using kilz first.

Most likely Texas said this because if you’re going to spend the money on epoxy you will want the best and cleanest surface possible for it to bond to. Epoxy will bond a seal better on a porous surface rather than one that’s already painted. I'm not even sure how epoxy would react with a dry latex based paint/primer such as kilz but my guess is it’s not ideal.

We did not use the kilz before we painted with the exterior paint because the walls had paint on them already and we did not feel it would be necessary.

As has been stated it is probably best not to seal the wall if you are going to use an epoxy.
Good Luck,
