What water quality do you need?

They will take alittle, But if your going to add other stuff -fish- etc it will be your best to get rid of trates ( water changes- and a good skimmer)

I never had a problem when my trates hit 50ppm cause of a dead fish I couldn't find. All zoos were open a healthy looking. Of course I fixed the nitrates quickly with water changes.

Hi

Thanks for the info,What about lighting.I have a 120 gallon with the florescent 4 foot light on it,will that work?I dont know what kind of bulbs are in it ,there chrome on one side.but they dont say anything on them.Whats PC ?

thanks

Is your 4 ' light just a standard light that came with the tank when you purchased it? If so, no the light wont work. PC is power compact. My zoo's are doing well under my 72 watts of Compact Flourescents (24g tank). You might want to have a read though some of the info located at http://www.drsfostersmith.com/pic/article.cfm?dept_id=&aid=350 It'll give you a better understanding of what light to use in what applications. It's not written in stone, but it will give you some guidelines.
