What would be the Minimum lights for a Haddoni

As the title says, what would be the min. lights required for a Haddoni Anem. ?

I have kept a RBTA in my bedroom tank which has 2-65watt pc compact bulbs and was wondering if this would be enough for a Haddoni anemone . I have been upgrading this tank and have put a Tunze Reefpack with the skimmer on the tank to better handle an anemones bioload and get away from the 2-3 times a week water changes I was doing before.

I already have a large female Clarkii in the tank and she looks like she wants a nice spot to wallow in.

The only thing that will be in this tank is the clarkii and the anem.

If the lights are not strong enouch for a Haddoni then it looks like she will get a RBTA.

Thanks.

Not strong enough for a haddoni. They are high light creatures. T-5, MH, and good LEDs will work.

What size tank?

About 10 years ago I kept one of mine in a 75 under 6*65 PC, it did fine for the 3 years I had it under them, but it really started to thrive once I changed the lights to 2*250 MH + 4*54 T5.

Its a 15 gallon tank, 24 x 12 x 12 and has this light over it.http://www.marinedepot.com/Coralife..._Fixtures-Coralife-ES53402-FILTFIPCTF-vi.html

I have kept RBTA's in this tank before that thrived with twice weekly 10 gal water changes.I figure now the Tunze skimmer is on the tank it should be easier.

I have always LOVED the pics of the blue hadonni's , but I'm scared to death of letting one loose in my 180 gal. SPS tank, plus there is waaaaay to much water flow in it for an anemone. I tried a RBTA , it ran for cover and stayed pinned in the rock work wasting away till I was able to move it back into the 15 gal. tank. But if I don't have enough light for a Hadonni then I guess it will be another RBTA.

An S. haddoni won't work in that sized tank, they simply get too big and the amount waste they put off will be too much. I had one in a 33 cube and that was difficult to deal with the amount waste that it put off, besides it taking up pretty much all of the tank.

Thanks for the answers, I guess I'll just have to admire the Hadonni pics that are posted in this forum then.

I was thinking of one too, but I don't think my lights are sufficient.

Right now I've got 4*54 T5's on a 75g. I'm upgrading sooner or later to a MH fixture that has 2*250 MH and a couple of 54w T5s.

Was just wondering if it would be okay to go ahead and get it, it could be up to a year before I change the lights though. I don't want to get it if it won't be enough. What do you think?

4*54 T5s is probably fine. He may not thrive but should be okay. How deep is the tank?

It's 18 inches deep.

Yeah I was going to wait but I thought since there was a similar thread I'd chime in and see if I needed to, or if what I had would be sufficient until the upgrade. I know the saying, the faster you go the harder you crash, but I'm an impatient fool. :) Didn't hurt to check in and ask.

I planned on doing the MH during tax time. Gonna get a fixture and a clip on the back fan to blow across the water.

Haddoni is actually not a high light anemone.. They do prefectly fine under medium light conditions. Haddoni probably has very similar lighting requirements as BTA, and there are many many aquariust succefully keeping them under T5's or other more traditional light sources. They do not need nearly the light requirements of gigantea or magnfica.

Do you want your anemone to do "fine" or to thrive?

And after keeping E. Quadricolors and S. haddonis for several years over the course of the last 15 years or so, I disagree that they have similar lighting requirements.

So I am assuming that you feel BTAs need lower requirements? Most of the literature out there says their requirements can be met with VHO, T5 or metal halide (LED now). I know they reside in sand flats outside the reef, sometimes in water that might be 30-60ft. I would bet PAR values are under 100..

Just trying to point out that they are no where near the light monsters of gigantea and Magnifica..
