I have a large rock full of yumas and they just started to shrivel up and detach. Some are even becoming "jellied". Nothing has been added or changed recently. How can I stop it from spreading to all the yumas?
is this a new rock with the yumas?i had some die off on me but is was caused by too much light.are they placed high or low in the tank?what are your tank parameters,Ca,Alk,Mg,salt,Ph?
Low in the tank, I've had them for over 4 years and nothing in the tank has changed in the last couple of months. Is there a way of stopping it? Is it a bacteria?
i just bought a rock with some awesome red yumas, and i noticed that some of their feet are "jelling" kind of worried. i have had it happen before i just blew it off in a power head and it was fine...hope its the same thing this time.

I had the same happen to some of my yumas. Once I placed mine from under direct lighting they did better. I have only had this problem with the reddish-brown, greens do much better.
Well the rock had at least 50 of them on there. It seems like the rock is now almost a complete lost. Everyday it seems to be losing a few more. This sucks, but I hope I can save at least one to start a new colony.
I have had nearly the exact same thing happen to me lately, and I have placed them in a higher flow, higher light location. I will let you know how mine is doing when i see a result.
Wow, that really does suck!!!
Is there any brown jelly? I know a guy on a local board just had a similar problem but with florida rics.
I would suspect a bacterial infection of some kind, a dip at this point might be a good idea .. I mean, what do you stand to lose at this point? Might be worth a shot.
I had the same problem on a colony of 10 yellow blues, I noticed the they would jelly more at night when the lights were out, during the day the jelly didnt apper. unfortunatly the hole colony was lost, i dipped and everything. I think it was a bactieria issue but i dont have a lab... Im very sorry about your loss I hope things improve for you.
A couple of months with no additions at all?? If this is the case it is (IMO) highly unlikely that it is a bacterial infection. I would lean more tward pH or temerature swings. If your temp or pH are dropping lower at night you would see a contracting (more intese coloring) and a die off of more dilicate mushrooms. LPS seem to be less affected by these changes. Are they the only yumas in the tank?? Also could you give us some background on the tank--age, lighting, test readings, fish and maybe a full tank shot?? Is this the only dieoff you are seeing in the tank??
I had a rock of about 30 mushrooms go to brown jelly for no reason also. Happened overnight and there where no additions to the tank for over a year. Temp stays constant with heaters and chiller running on a controller and ph varies almost none due to reverse fuge and 24/7 kalk. I would say it is a bacteria but no one really knows where it comes from...Or when it will hit..
