What would everybody like too see at Frag swap in Jan/Feb in Rochester???

Ok it is confirmed all of the profits if any will be donated to the Strong Museum.
Another option would be to donate or accept donations to be used towards the zoo project. Most people here probably aren't even aware but the Seneca park zoo tank was a URS project. When I first joined URS people used to volunteer every Sunday to go help. There are still a few people on the boards that give great advise to every one of us and have helped hundreds of new reefers with their issues that still to this date spend their free time and $$ keeping the zoo tank up and running. Not saying this is a better option than strong but just another option.

Thanks for posting that picture with the polar bears in the background. Can I get you send me the original version.

sanjay.

Not known for being politically correct 100% of the time I'll say it:
SPZ project would be a better option.
I have nothing to do with the decision to send any profits (if any) from this future URS meet to Strong.
The Seneca Park Zoo reef aquarium is/was a URS project that could definitely use any funding that can be mustered. The Strong Museum already benefits from a budget that far surpasses the funding available to the SPZ reef aquarium.

SPZ seems just as good a place for a donation. Let me know once all details with location, time etc are finalized and I can setup fragswapper, I'm listed as one of the URS admins.

Cheers

At this point im trying to lock on to a location then i will contact you.

Just a quick update. I am contacting manufactures and online vendors about donations and sponsership for our event. All items and gift certificates will be raffled off. What i need to find out now is if our organization has a letterhead of some kind. If not, i would like to know who is the person to contact with in our club. Last i knew there was URSNY and URS. I dont want to step on any toes so i figured i would ask before i do. Thanks again everybody.

You're running into the same issues that were the impetus for trying to establish the URSNY as a formal, legally recognized organization as opposed to just having our informal URS group here.

As I understand it, in New York state, you can't legally hold a raffle unless you are a recognized non-profit organization that has been in existence for at least three years.

When you consider liability issues, legal responsibility for contracts, fiduciary responsibilites, etc. there's a lot involved with putting these events together... particularly using venues that aren't donated by an interested party. It may be easiest to use the Strong Museum room again if Tad can make that happen.

Happy to help out as I can...

Cheers,

Mark

Im sorry i have had a hell of a past couple of weeks. Im i hoping it will be. I have a lot of projects going on and i had to put this on the back burner. Stressful time of year.

Any updates on if this swap is still going to take place? Joe I know you mentioned having a lot going on (and I totally respect that), but LOTS of people are anticipating this event and I have guest speakers/prizes lined up. Please LMK, thanks bud. -Jon
