What would you do?

So, Just as the title of this thread sounds, it is simply a poll as to what you guys would do.

Many of us know that when buying wet live rock, hitchhikers are a fact of life. Its bound to happen eventually, some of them are wanted, others, not so much.

So my question to the forum is this, If one of your hitchhikers was an endangered species, What action would you take? What actions CAN you take to be both morally as well as legally correct?

For the sake of the question, lets assume that you KNOW it to be a species that truly deserves to be on the endangered species list.

Consider this a bit of philosophical musings that happened to stray into my brain at work, and it got me thinking about what I would do...

It's highly unlikely for that to happen or for the average aquarist to actually be able to identify an endangered hitch hiker IMO.

But if it did happen, I might try to contact an expert & offer the animal to them if they thought they could raise it, or even study it. If that wasn't possible, I'd do my research & do the best I could with it.

I understand that the likelyhood of this is slim to none, but I tend to get these hair brained ideas in my head and then I start to wonder... What would others do?

Oh I'm not saying it's a hair brained idea. And it is certainly possible. For ultra fresh rock, finding an undiscovered organism is possible. It's a good thought experiment.
