Hey guys I was wondering what would you do if you have a 40g tank, with a wet/dry filter bio-balls out with filter bag in and the hofer gurgle buster. But it made a hell of a noise from the water going in the hofer gurgle buster and into the water bag. So loud that it isn't even nice to be near it.

Also with a tank that how now some dark black, and dark red, and green hair like algea growing all over rocks.

Emerald crab died, some hermit, and snails, but the damsels are still alive! lol

But what would you do.

sounds like you need a water change or too, the red algae and stuff is from excess nutrients ie feeding too much

Step 1: Throw bioballs in the trash can.

Step 2: Setup a fuge (can be in the sump where the bioballs were)

Step 3: Deal with sound. I don't have experience with anything except Durso's so I'm of no use here.

1. Bio-balls are out like I said when I started this thread.

2. I have a filter bag were the bio-balls were. Should I just put it under the filter bag? Also I can only go so high with water cause I have a sponge near my protein skimmer to prevent bubbles.

3. Sound, trust me you wouldn't be complaining just like I am.

Would loosing the filter bag give you anymore room? Also the sponge diffuser for your skimmer.... does it matter if it's under water?

yea the water can't go any higher then the sponge cause the bubbles rise and stay at top and defeats the purpose of the sponge.

The filter bag can be under water that doesn't matter as long as the water goes through it
