What's a good skimmer for a 29g?

The original setup wasn't going to have a sump, so I have a CPR Bakpak that's rated for a 60g tank. Now, it's going to have a sump. The total water volume will be 50g. I could use the bakpak on the side of the sump but I'm wondering if there's a submerssible skimmer in the same price range that would perform better? Or would you stick with the bakpak?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

actually I would go with a euro reef or an ASM. I just saw that in addition to the ASM G1x that is rated for 75G they have just released the Mini G for $99. Doesn't have a capacity rating yet, but I would think it would probably work for you.

IIRC, the mini's have had poor reviews. try a NW on the bac pac you'd be amazed....you could even do a simple recirc mod on it...or you could just get a bubble king :)

What's a "NW" for the bakpak? The bakpak is powered by a maxijet 1200. Would a better pump help?

Bubble King ordered! (I just gave them Joel's credit card #) :p

NW, stands for needle wheel. You can modify the impeller of the Maxi Jet. Or you can upgrade the pump....

I havent used one but the octupus skimmers have been getting a lot of talk here.

Needle wheel mods on maxijet impellars are amazing. Huge diffirence when I modded a couple of seaclones w/ a needle wheel made out of those blue bioballs.

It's very simple and worth a try since you have the skimmer already.
