What is an "algae attack pack"? If you are looking for macro's to control nitrate and compete with bad algae, the try inland aquatics, floridapets, seacrop, even Smith and Foster sells plants. Also, go to the macroalgae forum and spend some time reviewing earlier threads.
Well, an 'algae attack pack' is usually a team of snails, hermits, and other various inverts that eat fish poop, detritus, and algae in places that a sponge or siphon hose cannot reach.
Just buy several small snails like pacific nerites, small hermits, and small nassarius. Maybe 4 of each hermits and nerite, and 2 nassarius.Perhaps some sexy shrimp or a boxing crab for fun and additional clean-up. You should be doing weekly water changes, feeding sparingly, top off daily, and don't overload your tank with fish. If these are'nt available at your LFS, look into Live Aquaria or Marine Depot Live, maybe offset the price of shipping with a refractometer or some other dry goods you need....or get some friends to go in on the order.
www.auaticsisland.com has a free cleaner crew if you are a new customer. I got it, felt guilty, I wanted to get more but they don't have a bunch (No Peppermint or Pistol Shrimp and no Nerite Snails at the time).
I really don't know of any cleaner packs that are designed for 10 gallon tanks. You don't need much in the way of cleaners for a 10 gallon so I would just buy the inverts seperately. It would also be much cheaper then buying a kit online.
Forget the algae attack, I'm in serious need of a detrivores! My liverock is 'shedding' really bad! I've waited too long for the liverock to become biological filtration. I'm planning on siphoning the crud every other day for awhile.
