Noticed that there was some stringy looking stuff comming out of my long tenacle plate coral tonight that looked kind of strange. Here are some pics anyone know what it may be?

It looks like partially-digested food. Did you feed it recently? This is the way they expel left over waste that they are not able to use.

That's what i thought it was, waste, but it was just ALOT of it! I didn't remember feeding it THAT much, just some cyclopeeze and some DT's. O'well I guess it's nothing bad.

It doesn't look or look like it's acting out of the ordinary. If you were having problems with it, there is a chance that it is expelling its Zooxanthallae. But I highly doubt it.

I'd feed it some meatier foods like krill and silversides if you aren't already.

It's really hard to feed it anything like that with lionfish, large clownfish, and an eel. You stick food in the water and they go nuts!!!!!

Hmmnn. I would try:

1. Feeding the other critters first.
2. Feeding the corals at night (more tentacles anyhow that way).
3. And direct feeding the corals mysis, etc.

My experience with LPS corals is that food usually sticks pretty well to the tentacles.

I've found that feeding any LPS directly, only gets the hermits, shrimp and snails to ravage the LPS for the food, regardless of whether or not I've fed them prior to the LPS.

BTW, I agree, that plate is just taking a poop.

Hmmnn. I have always found a way to work around those problems. I think with some resourcefullness, it can be managed.

I feed my LPS after lights out. The hermits are not a problem and the snails seem to be afraid to touch the LPS. "(folded brain)

I wish it was possible to do the direct feedings you speak of, however my eel is fearless!!!!!!!! no LPS, Anenome, or anything else that may sting will stop him! You can't stop him, I just hope to contain him!

That is a great description of your eel, ZC. A character like that sounds like he should have a really good name.... :D
