Whats considered a mated pair for GSM clownfish

I was at the LFS today and the guy told me he had a mated pair of GSM clownfish for sale. The big one was around 2.5" and the smaller one at 1.5". They were in a 55gal tank, the small one hanging out in the top left corner while the bigger one was over on the right side hanging out around the rocks.

Is this normal behavior for a mated pair? Shouldn't they be swimming together, instead of at opposite ends of the tank? Or is he trying to say that since the bigger one hasn't killed off the smaller one, eventually they will pair up? Any help would be appreciated because I left a deposit for them but haven't brought them home yet.

mated IMO means they are doin it

I.E they regularly lay eggs

Bonded means they always hang out

To be sure, just because they may not appear to be hainging out like that doesnt necessarily mean that they arent, or havent been laying. I know if I move things around it will mess with them. One of my mated pairs stopped laying and hanging out for about a couple months recently with a little aquascaping change. Never did start again until I moved a certain rock that was near where she lays

as far as if the pair you are looking at is worth as much as if they were mated......... you need to ask him if he has ever seen eggs and if they arent hanging out becasue they were recently disrupted. If not, those fish are worth face value as individuals

Ask your LFS if they ever saw them laid eggs before or better yet, ask them to show you some pictures/laid eggs.

Thanks for the replies guys! I'll ask the guy when I pick them up on Wednesday. Aren't they kinda small to be laying eggs at that size though?
He's charging me $10 more than individual pricing for them which I thought was odd for a mated pair.
