hm.. hard to tell.. I once had a nasty 5 foot long worm that did the kind of damage seen on the top frag....
I had two Bobbit worms, actually.. A 5 footer and a 1 footer..
They decimated my tank. It looked like someone had taken rough sand paper and scraped down all the tips of my acros..
I hope you don't have that!
I never once saw them until i tore the tank down..

Tank has only been up for two months. Started with half live rock and half dead dry. So I doubt it's a huge worm.

What else could this be? Fish nipping? Strawberry crab?

What could take off a limb from a. Stag?

It's a 130 5ft.
Spot swallowtail angel
Fire fish
Bengai cardinals x2
Two clowns
Two wrasse
Midas blenny
Lawnmower blenny

Hermits
Snails
Strawberry crab

Tank is about 2 months old. Started with half dry rock and half live rock. Cycled together and had 2ppm ammonia spike.

What could take off whole chunks like this?

Damage on small branch facing us looks like AEFW, otherwise no idea. I have a valida losing tips like this and I'm not sure what is doing it. I would have to guess a crab in your case, something big enough to lop off the tips.

The only crab in the tank that I know of is my strawberry. He's quite big. I set a glass trap this morning. I hope to come home to a crab of some sort.

On your list, the crab is the only thing strong enough to remove a small branch..
I'm not sure what a strawberry crab is, though.

:) still don't really know if he's safe or not..
I think it's a good plan to remove him and see if the corals recover.

I'm honestly hoping that will do the trick. But I've never seen anything picking on the corals and yesterday it happened during the day. I've never seen this guy out at day time.

Fish would not be capable of this kind of damage, correct?

I had an emerald crab that would literally break chunks off the tips of my SPS and eat it. He's now in the sump. So, I would say the strawberry if anything.
