What's happening to my Osmolator?

I use Osmolators with the Kalk Reservoir bottles for both my reef tanks. The older one has been working flawlessly for almost three years.

However, I bought a new one last year when I set up my 180G and it has developed problems. The yellow indicator light just flickers and does not always activate the pump. (I have swapped pumps, so its not a pump or wiring problem.) When I get up in the morning, the Low water red light is always flashing. I manually top off the tank, reset the controller, and the green light comes on immediately. However, when the yellow light comes on, about half the time the pump isn't activated.

When I turn power off to the problem Osmolator, I hear what sounds like a relay "click", something I've never heard in my older one.

Any suggestions for this unit, which is less than a year old?

On the board of the osmolator is a component called a PTC, it basically isolates the pump from the brain of the board, if the pump draws enough power that it could cause the board to starve its basic "brain" functions it shuts it down to prevent this from happening. This can happen for a few reasons, the PTC has failed, the wiring is corroded, the pump is stiff or jammed, the pump is pumping a very short run and draws maximum power (higher head pressures reduce the power draw). I can fix this very quickly, you are in Oklahoma, I am in Austin TX, maximum transit time would be 2 days each way and I would only need 1-2 days to do the repair. Send me the controller and pump and I will get it fixed up.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Thanks Roger, I will get it boxed up and in the mail tomorrow. (Priority) Do you need the power supply, or just the pump and controller?
