Whats in YOUR 120g reef?

DamnPepShrimp

Moved On
I am getting a 120g which will be my reef tank, probably won't be an upgrade either. I'll eventually have a big FO tank, but 120 is a nice sized reef. I'd love to see what other people are putting in there 120s, hopefully with the intent to keep in there for life. I don't believe in buying fish you know will out grow your tank. I really want a bright colorful stocking of fish, along the lines of yellow tang, school of chromis and anthias, flame angel, etc. I love David Saxby's aquarium, if anyone has ever seen that beautiful tank on youtube, want to have a similar effect on an obviously much smaller scale. Also my tank will be a mixed reef of all corals EXCEPT SPS!!! Not a fan of expensive twigs and want to be different then every other sps reef out there, hopefully others feel the same.

So what is in your 120? Pics would be great too!

5-Chalk Bass
2-Onyx Percula Clowns w/ Anemone or Two Picassos w/ Anemone
1-Leopard Wrasse
1-Starry Blenny
1-Yellow Tang
1-Potter's Angel or Joculator
2-Yashia Shrimp Gobies w/Pistol Shrimp
1-Magnificent FoxFace

That is what I plan to have in my 120g that I'll be getting up and running next year.

The five chalk bass will be cool!

I have a 120 mixed reef mostly SPS, here's my list:

Coral Beauty
Heniochus butterfly
Yellow Tang
Fox Face Lo
Blue Stripped Rabbit
O. clown - pair
Orchid dottyback - pair
BG chromis - trio
Azure damsel

I recently lost a midas blenny I had for some time and I am on the fence about replacing. I want to as it's a big personality fish, but I am a little concerned about aggression now that I've succesfully paired the dottybacks. If I can find a small one I'll probably go for it.

so far I've got..

flame hawk
pair onyx percula 4 anemones
tomini tang
hippo tang
mandarin pair
red head solon fairy wrasse
5 blue/green chromis
pair cleaner shrimp
blood red shrimp
millions of snails and hermits.. lol

looking to add more wrasse or some anthias.. not sure yet..

if i do it..
yellow tang
3 lyetail anthais
filemented flasher wrasse
mandarine
lawnmwer blennie
2 clowns
maybe 3 chromis?

In my 115 gallon (approx. 54"' x 24" x 24"), I have:

5 blue-green chromis
1 bicolor anthias
1 squarespot anthias
1 bartlett's anthias
1 pair pink skunk clowns (w/BTA)
1 pair red scooter dragonets
1 foxface rabbitfish
1 potter's angel
1 lubbock's wrasse
1 fridmani pseudochromis

Probably a bit heavily stocked for some tastes, but it seems to work well (so far, at least). Weirdly, all three anthias are males, yet I've never seen even a bit of aggression among them. The squarespot and the bicolor are both 4-5", too. I certainly don't plan to add any more anthias, just in case it might upset the balance of power among them somehow.

well they are all different species of anthias.. if you had 3 male bartletts, it would be a different story..

and how is a 54 x 24 x 24 a 115g but a 48 x 24 x 24 120g?

sorry, just confused here..

Mine is a flat back hex. The 54 is the length at its longest part. (And actually, the other dimensions are only approximate. I think the width is actually something weird like 22 3/4.)

Currently:

Powder Brown Tang
Yellow Tang
2 Ocel. clowns
2 Bangaii Cardinals
Bluespot jawfish
Mandarin Dragonette

Future:
4 Sunburst Anthias
Maybe a wrasse

Mostly SpS with some LPS and zoas

5- Blue Chromis
1-Engineer Goby
1-Maroon Clown
1-Kole Tang
1- Yellow Tang
1-Convict Tang
1-Scissortail Goby
1-Big ole Deresa Clam

im not quite a 120 , have a 112g 60 x 18 x 24 - but 200g total with sump.
Majestic Angel
Yellow Tang
Gold Eye Tang
Copperband Butterfly
Bluecheek Goby
Green Chromis x 6 (thinking of replacing these)

Lots of Acros , a few Montis , lots of zoos a few LPS and a RBTA

Nice stock lists everyone! I'd LOVE TO SEE SOME PICS OF THESE TANKS! If anyone has them, post them up!

mrwilson, I am starting from scratch, sort of. I have a 37g cube that is currently up with only corals. I had to downsize from my full blown 110g reef, frag everything and put in a simple smaller system while I went away for the summer at the beach. I have about 100-150lbs of rock cooking and about 50-75 in my cube that are all good and COVERED with life. As far as fish, I don't have anything, got rid of them all before I left.

I am really interested in shoals of bright colored fish. I am thinking about a few anthias and maybe a small school of chromis to mix with them. Chromis always tend to be weak and die though, so I may go with some scrappy damsels. I plan to stock the tank heavy, I will have more then enough filtration on the tank, just as long as there is no major fighting, I should be ok with all that in a softy/lps tank.

gnarlyswine, hows the majestic in your tank with zoos and the LPS? I was considering an angel, definitely a flame, I'd love a blueface or regal, but they'd eventually outgrow the tank.

I know there are more 120s out there, post up what's in yours and pics would be great! Thanks for everyone who replied!

Skydragon, Is your tank without a cover? It looks beautiful and new, but if you dont have a cover for the top, you will lose most of those wrasses. It;s just a matter of time.
