Whats in your 12g nano cube chambers.

I am not to crazy about what is in the chambers on the back of the nano cube, with the sponges and ceramic rings.
what do you have in yours, looking for something better.

Chamber 1: Sponge, heater, 3" x 8" bag of carbon, 3" x 8" bag of Renew
Chamber 2: Refugium (external LED light - cut the plastic back of the tank)
Chamber 3: MJ900 return pump

I change the media in the 1st chamber every water change (every 2 weeks)

The ball of cheato in the 2nd chamber grows so fast I prune a softball out every 2 weeks.

No algae in the tank whatsoever.

what do you have for light in chamber 2?

13W 6500K built into the hood. Since I have a 6gal as a fuge that is on an opposite light schedule I can run it with my other lights. Mainly I use it for filtration.

what do you guys think about the sponges in chamber 1?

I use the one sponge only and I swap it out for a clean one every week. I wash the other thoroughly in hot water and then let it air dry. My sponge seems to pick up a lot of gunk that gets pulled into the overflow.

wht do you use to keep the cheato in the second chamber? mine always goes into the third. i wasthinking about making a cage for it out of egg crate and FG screen but then i didn't know how the pods would get into the tank.
