Changed out my RODI filters today...it was disgusting. This is what my cartridges looked like after ~1 year of filtering Columbia's water.

That's disgusting! What's your incoming TDS? I have a hard time imagining that those filters could last a full year considering the way they look now.

wow i'm glad i got clear canisters to see mine, i'm getting ready to change out some hot water lines in my house and add a whole house sediment filter and change plumbing to keep ro/di unit in basement instead of in kitchen. my sediment filter gets changed every 6 months and never looks that bad, carbon blocks change once a year and they barely have hardly any color to them.

Mike, if I had a TDS meter I'd tell you ;) My canisters ARE clear...I have just been busy.

i just got my tds meter for 20 bucks with last order i received from bulk reef supply, and bought 2 of each filter so i got second set for when current set go bad, finally took 2 inline tubes for di resin off line and added big di resin cartridge to my system.

Mine is about the same as French's is about 250 out of the faucet.

My filters look like the pictures in about 9 months even less sometimes.Maybe not so muddy looking but very dirty.

I have to change my resin about every 3 months to keep my water quality down toward zero

Must be nice to have filters that only look like that. I'm on a well and change out my DI after 130 gallons of water. The pre sediment gets changed or rinsed every 200 gallons.
What can you say it comes with the turf. You got to love this hobby. :hmm5:

I change mine every four months....not as nasty as yours though. Tinman

Why are you using two carbon blocks? Do you have chloramines? If not, you might want to try this combination:
5 mic sediment filter
1 mic sediment filter
0.5 mic carbon block

Wow. I change mine out every six months, and you can't tell the difference from the ones I'm putting in. Incoming is around 135.
