How long have you had it? Typically thats the dying look.

That is normal mandarin slime. They exude a lot of that stuff but it should fall off after he starts swimming a little while in the morning. All scaleless fish exude slime and I think mandarins are scaleless. Anyway, mine do that and they have been spawning for a very long time.

3 days he did pass but I was able to get a new one...he had a fungus

dont the maderin produce a toxic slime when they are stressed or sick? not sure I think i remember reading that. Im sure if the rest of your fish are still alive it wasnt toxic

Yes, but they also produce it when they sleep and sometimes in the morning some of it sticks to them.
