What's on my zoa?

Clownfish Farmer
I noticed this 2 night ago. I tried to use a turkey baster to clean them, and i also did a FW dip last night. Water tested fine. Am-0; trates & trites 0; ph 8.4; 1.025; temps 79. Any ideas? Possibly just the fringes of the zoa? Am I getting freaked out for nothing? Sorry about the bad pic, but i have the 2 zoas in question circled.

can you get a closer picture. maybe its an image of jesus or mary and you can sell it on ebay. sorry hard to tell. is it hard? sponge or barincal?

from just looking at the photo it looks like the rock is poking through. if you say that its not hard then not too sure what it could be.

I tried to vacuum it off with a turkey baster and that didn't work. Nothing came off during the dip. Am i just paranoid?

yea its zoanthids they r bullet proof put em under light and let him spread

I used to believe this...........but now that I have really gotten into them im not so sure I agree with this statement anymore. Im not asying they are difficult or even that i hae lots of problems per se....but bulletproof they are not.......

jmo :)

to be honest, id let them do there thing unless they have a film on them or spots or if other polyps begin to close around those, then i would worry a bit. Let them run their course and keep an eye on them for now.
i would guess that you would upset them more by scraping them instead of just leaving them alone.

are you sure they arent hard...the things on them...they look an aweful lot like foraminiferans....which a re zoa irritants...if the zoa dont open it will eventually die...

check out the zoaid.com id page fr all zoa predators and irritants...here is the link...to them..
