what's the best tank vac for larval/growout tanks??

So I've been breeding clowns for 7-8 months now, and I still can't figure out an efficient way to vac the bottoms. I know this sounds ridiculous...should"ve asked much sooner, but it seems like such a simple concept, that I kinda feel a little...well...stupid having to ask.
I've tried rigid airline tubing, 1/2" ID flex tubing, the kind of tank vacs you get at the pet store, and even built a DIY ...thing... with a 4" slotted head. Everything I've tried is either way to slow, or removes too much water for the amount of actual bottom filth eliminated. I found one that looks interesting on fl aquafarms website. But I don't want to spend $30 on another marginally effective solution.

Any and all input welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance

On dottybacks which are very small I will use 3/16 rigid tubing so it is a slow process. On the clowns I use 5/15 rigid. Then I also took a kent ss 3" scraper & made a small box around it & hooked it up to 5/16 rigid tubing & it works great. When I syphon tanks I let the water go into a container so I can catch the fry I syphoned out.
