Today i stopped by at my lfs and inside one of there display tanks was this giantgantic squashama(sp) clam that must've been at least a 1' and 6" long and 6" wide . Lfs told me it was a grade 8 clam (not sure what that means though) from bali. Anyone seen a clam bigger than this :D ?

I have seen a 2' one, but a dead one, only the shell left.. any photo of that big clam, what color is it?

2ft Amazing clam.. there's several LFS in the bay area with clams over a foot in length for sale and on display

it was a mixed red and pink pattern, Quite stunning imo. As for a pic right now i dont have a digi cam so :( no pic.

at waikiki aquarium. was probably about 3', maybe larger.

holy crap that things huge. the clam i saw at the store wuz probobly only half of that.:eek2:  :eek2:  :eek2:

what type of clam is that in the pic?

Gigas. They are by far the largest. They require huge tanks...I know clam freaks with 250 gallon tanks that won't even buy a small gigas.

I saw this at Sea World San Antonio when I went a month ago. This clam was huge. I was told that the tank and everything was donated and ran by some well known reefers from the area. I could put my head in the mouth and still have a little room. Just to show how huge this thing was. It was gorgeous up close.

Dustin,
next time you visit that clam back, stick your head in its mouth and take a picture. I'll give you 20 dollars. :)

Ive seen one about a foot long at my LFS once. Not sure what kind because I dont know much about them.It kinda looked like the 1st pic posted.Someone traded it back and it used to squirt water out of the tank. They kept it near the top of the tank with PCs. They wanted $250 for it.It was gone after a couple of weeks.
