I want to raise alk in my tank and would like to know how much i can raise per day without causing stress to my SPS and how slow or fast can i add it to my tank?
It does take time for your initial dose to percolate through the system. I'd say you dose just a shade large, test again in 8 hours and see where your first dose got you...but pushing it too fast again, that could lead bad places, ime. Your alk can reach 10 without calamity. You don't say where it is now.

Yeah, I just put in the numbers on the reef calculator and added a whole ton of baking soda. I probably should have done it slower, but whatever, I didn't see any side effects.
Thanks for the responses everyone; I thought 7 was on the low end, but i'll go ahead and raise it slowly just a bit or leave it at where it is for now
the only problem i have is that when i mix a fresh batch from RC the alk is usually at around 11dKH, so i was thinking that if i ever did a water change that it might cause trouble
even if you did a 50 percent water change with salt @ 11dkh and your tank was @ 7 it would only raise your in tank alk to 9. So a 25% change with the same numbers would put you @ 8 which would be an increase of 1dkh, not a huge jump. I dose more than that in a day.
