what's this?

Found these on the side of my glass today, anyone know what they are, kinda look like eggs maybe???/

Do you have Cerith snails by chance?

not to my knowledge, I have never bought any, but it doesn't mean that they aren't in there. You can't really tell on the close up, but they are all individual sphereical things.

They're either snail or nudibranch eggs. What snails do you have in your tank?

mostly mexican turbo, asterea, and nassarius

Im not 100% sure here, but I'm pretty confident they aren't going to hatch into little terrors. I'm not sure about the Turbos, but astreas are broadcast spawners. Nassarius aren't reported to breed in captivity. Not that it can't happen. Noting how much they are like Cerith snails, it wouldn't surprise me if Nassarius laid. But that is all speculation. Have you tried posting this in one of the invertebrate forums or the reef discussion?

no, i never have much luck w\ responses there. I will leave them for now and see if anything comes out of them in a few days i guess.......

It would never hurt to have more snails also, esp. free ones!

They could also be a nudibranch. I don't know what type though. Most "pest" nudibranchs lay their eggs on or near their food source though. For example, Monti-eating and Zoa-Eating Nudibranchs normally lay their eggs right on the food source.

you think i should scrape them off and get them out or let them be and see what comes out. Cause i do have Zoa's and Monti's in my tank i'd like to keep!

If they were the bad nudis, you would no by now. In order to lay eggs, they need energy. And to get energy, they need to eat. And that is a lot of eggs You would have noticed.

If you get a chance, it would be worth scraping some off in a seperate container just to see. Unfortunately, they might hatch out as free floating zooplankton until they settle.

ok then none of my monti's or zoa's are eaten so i won't worry bout that then....well i just let them hatch and see what they turn out to be!
