What's this??

It started very tiny, just thought it was algae but now it's bigger and has vents? Just wondering what this is before I scrape it off. It's kinda small in this pic but it's the best I can zoom in, slight let to the peak of the brown rock. Any help would be great.

but whats up with the "brown" rock? A homage to UPS? Crazy diatom growth?
