What's up with my Ca?

I have a 65gal mainly SPS dominated tank and use ESV 2 part dosing. My daily dosing for ALk is about 40ml daily and gives me about 9.3 dKh. However, my Ca daily is about 60ml and barely keeps my Ca around 360-380. I have been testing using salifert daily and numbers stays about the same. My Mg is 1320...rock solid for a couple weeks now. I have been having to add additional Ca weekly to keep level between 400-410 with Brightwell Ca supplements. So here are my questions:
1. Is that normal for my calcium to be in higher demand than my Alk?
2. Is ok to dose more than 1ml per gallon with Ca with ESV when they say on label to not too exceed 1ml per gal daily?
3. Is it normal for my "2-part" dosing not be equal ie. alk 40 ml daily and Ca exceeding 65 ml daily? :hmm2:

FYI, all other levels are zero. Thank! James

I can't answer all your questions, but I can say that I too use two-part and I use double the alk over Ca+3. My Ca+3 is steady at 440. To keep my alk up I use almost double the volume of calcium. Hope this helps.

Oops. Meant to say double the volume of alk over calcium.

I had the same issue. I would check your Mag again, I think that's what screwed up my CA and Alk balance. I did huge water changes to "reset" the parameters so to speak and started dosing Mg, and everything returned to normal. Good luck.

Ok I'll check my MG again to be sure. It's also comforting to know that you (tmurlney) that you are not doing "equal" part as well.

With using BIO REEF marine mix salt, which has magnesium readings of 1250 ppm and using a calcium reactor I do not run into your issues.Just something to think about, Pete
