What's Up With My Corals? (Wellso&Scoly)

Hi All,

Got a couple coral issues (all others are fine) but thought it would be a good idea to get some feedback...

-Wellso, only had it a couple weeks but it hasn't been expanding over the last couple days and seems to be receding. It's in a medium/low flow and moderate light area. Could the mushroom above it be causing problems, or too close to the rock?

-Scoly, this one has been around for months. A month or so ago it started showing this stringy white stuff by its mouth and seemed to have a couple tears in the tissue close to the mouth. I can blow off the white stuff with a baster but eventually it comes back. Its not feeding as well as my other Scoly's. I tried moving it to an area with a little more flow and a little less light but the issue remains.

Water params are in check. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

PS. The stuff in the Scoly's mouth is LPS Grow+Color, feed it once a week. Not taking it, as usual lately.

Bump...maybe just some opinions on what flow/light conditions their Wellso's and/or Scoly's grow best? I usually base my coral location on liveaquaria's advice but have come to realize that it's not always ideal.

They both look fine to me. I doubt the mushroom is bothering the Wellsophyllia and that white stringy stuff you saw around the mouth of the Scolymia might have just been Mesenterial Filaments. Corals will expel these from time to time and in most cases it's nothing to worry about.

Agreed. Both look to be in good health. Trachyphyllia (I don't believe Wellsophyllia is the accepted name anymore) can be bothered by coralimorphs so you could be right. Maybe move it a bit further from the rock. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.

Same goes for your Scoly. Might be mesenteries but if you were able to debride them it might just be expellant such as digested food.

Ok thanks. The Trach (I stand corrected) was really blowing up when I first got it...Like 2-3 times the size it is now for a few hours a day. These days it just stays small and doesn't expand at all throughout the day.
