What's wrong with my acros....

Two of my acros aren't doing so well or at least that's what I think. They don't seem as vibrant and everything is retracted.

Here's a picture of my slimer a week ago...

And taken just now....I also included a picture of the purple acro (not sure about the name)

Water params are:
Sg 1.026
Ph 8.25
Alk 9 dkh
Ca 400
Mag 1400
Temp 79
All other levels are zero.

I dose 45 ml of b-ionic and about 2 gallons of kalk a day.

Thanks for looking and providing feed back.

Have you checked for red bugs? They can be very hard to spot.

When was your last water change?

Are you dosing iodine?

Heavy skimming? Carbon?

Last water change was on Sunday. I put two drops of Lugols in a day, skimming has been normal and I do run gac and gfo. I did replace both gac and gfo media this weekend. I also switched to the b-ionic about a week ago as well.

Just trying to think of anything I can. I've been looking for red bugs but can't find any. I have about 6 acros in my frag tank which is on the same system and they all look great.

If the coral could only talk!!!

Water parameters look fine.. How did you figure out your dosing regiment on the 2-part Bi-Ionic? 45ml a day seems a little high in a fairly lightly sps stocked system, but I could be wrong.

I have a friend of mine that uses it and is running about the same amount of water I am....60 gallons total. My frag tank is well stocked with mostly sps....probably 24 frags. I started out with what was suggested and adjusted daily until i was able to keep it at the level I wanted.

I was going to say maybe something has tainted your system but your frags seem to be doing well. I use iodine also but just one drop three times a week. My system is only 70 gallons total which is about the same as yours. Dunno...

My tank went south on me several months back and almost crashed. I had a large colony of prostrata die and my green slimmer wasn't green anymore. The only thing I could think of was that my frag rack was releasing rust into the system from the magnets because they were leaking. Although knowing that we use rust in the form of GFO to remove PO4, I think the metals in the magnets were the culprit. So check to see if any contaminants could have gotten into your system.

Its always a mystery. I fragged a piece of the slimer tonight and moved it to the frag tank just incase I lose the one in the dt. I will do another wc tomorrow if things dont improve.

I may have figured this out....one of my Duncan colonies has been closed up since yesterday as well and that happened one other time about a month ago when the cleaning people were here. Well, cleaning people were here yesterday and it was last night that I noticed something wasn't looking right. Time for a good sized wc.

You may have shocked your corals with all that changing (in bold)....parameters may have suddenly shifted around. I would bet it was one or a combination of the 3 that did it. A nice WC probably would not hurt, but I would let things settle a bit.

You also mentioned cleaning people may have gotten chemicals in your tank.

Plus be VERY careful of Iodine dosing...it doesn't take much to become extremely toxic...especially in a smaller tank like yours!!
