Looks to me like the beginning stages of HLLE, head and lateral line disease. This can be induced by improper diet and stress from not enough swimming space - blue tangs need a lot. A small one like this would still need a decent sized tank. What size is your nano? This condition will get progressively worse

nano is like 5 gallon ,i know tiny! also reason why i went to a 60 that's 4ft long 48".. can i transfer him and he gets better?

That should relieve a lot of stress. Make sure to feed him well too. My tangs are fat and healthy on nori and mysis. I feed the nori daily and the mysis a few times a week.

Even 60 gallon is still way too small for blue tang. It really needs at least 200 gallon to feel comfortable. For a small one, at least a 5' 100g.

it does look like the start of HLLE .. why would you put a tang is such a small place .. thats like putting you into a 3 foot by 3 foot closet and making you live there for a 6 months .. you would go crazy and stress out .. i swear LFS really need to ask customers what size tank they have and stop worrying about the bottom dollar .. someone will come along the next day or so to buy the same fish geeeesh .. n now your moving it into a apartment the size of a walk in closet for you .. read before you buy please Minimum Tank Size: 180 gallons .. most all tangs need room .. just like we do ..

yea at the lfs this owner actually had this nano and the blue tang together already so i bought it not knowing much about the size tank it needed. but since i joined R.C ive learned alot and don't plan on keeping the blue tang for a long period of time.

Move it to the 60 for now, that should help. But yes, long term you need to find a home for it where it has a 180g+ tank or upgrade yourself. Also, most LFS don't really have the welfare of the fish on their minds... at least in my experience. Research before you buy!

i help out in a LFS and i always ask what size tank they have and what tank mates are in the tank and what fish they plan on buying with in the next 6 months .. the key rule is NO TANGS in a tank under 150 ... i will turn them away and onto a smaller fish that can handle being in a tank that is small ...
