I just got a clown almost a week ago and its been swimming at the top every day. I also noticed it swims upside down and on its side as if its going to croak any day now. I figured if it wasn't eating then there may be a problem but it takes food just fine.

If you think something is wrong with your clown please include pics and parameters. Sounds like normal clown fish behavior to me, they are all different. I have one the host the corner of the tank all the time, two B/W that host the outputs, even though they had a BTA. Two more that swim all day and host RBTA and one baby black misbar that host a carpet 10 times it's size. If it's eating that is always a good sign. What type of clown is it?
Is the clown fairly new? He might be adjusting or stressed from the move or there may be something in the tank that bothers him? Just some ideas. Most likely, it is just a clownfish being a clownfish.
:rollface:I have heard that if a fish starts to swim sideways that it could be an air bubble swallowed. I know in bigger fish that swallow food hole you wanna squeeze the food to release any air that may be trapped. But this is just something i have heard and i have been in salt water for a while but still inexperienced as their is alot to learn. Just thought i would throw an idea out their for yeah. He may of got the air bubble being introduced to the tank. Not sure though.
I have an OCC clown that floated to the surface everytime he stopped swimming. I thought he was a gonner, but he seemed to get better after a day or so. I think he may have swallowed an air bubble cause he sucks food down like a shopvac on acid LOL.
