What's wrong with my Dendrophyllia?

You may see from the pic. I feed them every three days with mysis shrimp or brine shrimp but ...seems they start to peel off from the skeleton.

I heard about overfeeding so that the food residue inside could spoil and kill them? Or does it because of the water quality? Any body could verify from my pic?

Actually you are not feeding enough. They should be fed a minimum of every other day, maybe more. Some of my larger Dendros get fed every day. I feed very heavily and have never seen any harm from over feeding, don`t worry about.

I couldn't see any flesh falling off from your pics. If you suspect a bacterial infection you may want to consider more flow and an antibacterial dip.

I've read accounts of undigested food rotting inside a polyp and they seemed quite credible, but the consequences didn't seem to be tissue falling off, if I relented correctly.

Dendros & Suns can definitely do well with feeding every 3 days or even longer intervals. Daily feeding may work out well, but it's by no means a requirement IME.

Hi All,
Here is a photo of my Dendrophyllia seven heads. I feed
every other day mysis and brine soaked in Selcon. It has only
been in my tank for about three months and has added two new heads.

Thank you RF. I also suspect the bacterial infection however i dont know what i should do right now. Today a new head that has been in my tank for well over 8 months started to fall off

Do I see algae growing on the skeleton between the polyps? That can be a problem as it seems to irritate existing polyps and smother new growth.
