Whats wrong with my GSP!!

I bought a nice piece of GSP about a week ago. The problem is that it hasnt opened. The thing that worries me is that this isn't the first time it happens. I bought some GSP a while back and it never opened up, just stayed closed for ever and eventually shriveleld off the rock. I dont want it to happen this time again.
What is wrong here? My othe coral is doing fine. Something that i must admit though is that i gave it a short acclimation period, about 15 mins. Also, i have a coral beauty that ive observed nipping at the closed coral. Please help, it is really frustrating that i cannot keep one of the so called "easier to keep" corals!!

Coral Beauties are not reef safe. they tend to do as you are saying. "nipping" at corals constantly. theyre beautiful fish, go check this site for compatability chart. www.liveaquaria.com

I have a coral beauty and it RARELY nips at my corals. It spends most of the time grazing the live rock. I haven't had any problems so far. JME.

Arent you havin some GSP issues yourself? Might want to watch your beaut a little closer.

They like good flow and moderate to strong lighting IMO.
what are your water parameters?
Where is it placed?
Sometimes they just need time!

All of my params are in check. I think that I may have shocked them when I dipped them. I just recently read that they don't fair so well with iodine dipping. (Information I could have used "before" I dipped them)
I decided to move it to my frag tank where it could not be disturbed by anthing, and now it is coming back to life. Doing very well actually.

Talk about a hearty coral. Now if I could just find a frag or small colony of the long polyped GSP variety. (similar to the pink variety).
:;)

Good to hear! I am sure that you will see the polyps get longer and longer once it settles in . Mine started out short and before I knew it they were long and flowing.
You'll see!

These are the type I have. All the pictures of these that I have seen have had short polyps like this. So, it will be interesting to see what happens. Actually, these frags have gotten bigger and "lusher" since I took these photos just a couple weeks ago. The length though, is pretty much the same.
They are neon green GSP I believe..

:D Ah ha! I see now.
Those look awesome.
Flow plays a big part too?

Agreed just as impotant as lighting IMO!
