What's Wrong With My Tang? Possible Ich?

Hello

I Brought a Regal Tang few weeks back and placed it in my QT (Knowing they are susceptible to Ich) dosed it with Ich treatment, I kept the regal tang In there for little over 3 weeks and it showed no sign of Ich (I do this for all my fish).

Upon adding it to my DT it seems fine until I do maintenance in the tank e.g. Clean sand then the white dots appear which only visible for like a day then disappear and rubs against the rock occasionally.

Would this be Ich or could it be the tang stressed?

What should I do

Looks like Ich to me. Does the tang hang out in front of a wavemaker? Mine did that as well before succumbing to Ich. The visible stage of Ich isn't very long. I normally saw it in the morning and it was gone by evening.

By Ich treatment- do you mean copper?

I'd start a quarantine and get ready to fallow your tank. Just my 2 cents.

The tang doesn't show any unusual behaviour, not until I'm doing maintenance in the tank then occasionally scratches it still eats fine.

I've been using the treatment oodinex as I've heard nothing but good things from people who have used it

Would I put the CUC In the QT when I fallow the tank.

Thank you for your advice

So I googled that item and found this;
"Oodinex really only buys you some time to deal with this parasite by whatever means you decide to use. Oodinex, UV Ozone etc will only kill cryptocaryon irritans when it is at the free swimming stage ie: in search of a host. Copper may be a proving method but there are other methods that also work but take longer and are not as harsh towards fish. We have been through the white spot saga and tried all methods, in the end we stuck a uv on and left things alone. We haven't used uv or ozone for a while. We recently added two regal tangs, at the moment they have spots but they are the only fish with spots. "

I use the tank transfer method now. CUC can stay in your tank. Only fish need to be removed (all fish out or parasite can stay).

There are three treatments for Ich. Hyposalinity, tank transfer, and copper, and there is no other that seems to work. You can NOT combine treatments with copper. Do not add copper where you have carbon (which removes it,) where you do not have rigid control over dosage (an ATO [autotopoff] keeps the dosage steady by maintaining the saturation level), or where the fish is already weak. Use tank transfer, requiring two tanks, switching out water and cleaning equipment daily.

It looks like ich. Can't be sure from the picture though. The spots seem large and protruding. Are the fins and tail affected.? Any dots in the eyes?Is the fish showing ich symptoms like scraping , twitching, labored breathing ?

If not,it might be lymphocystus, a viral infection with no cure. Fortunately, that usually goes away in good water and with healthy feeding. Can you scrape it off easily with your finger?

If it were my fish ,just based on the photo and an assumption it's ich, I'd do tank transfer and quarantine and leave the display fishless for 72days.

Yes white spots on the fins & eyes. :-(

Okay thanks everyone for your input I will move my fish to my QT and leave the DT fish less for 3 months (what is the recommended duration? - 3 Months Enough?).

Thank you :-)
