Whats wrong with this clam? (T. Crocea)

MeuserReef

Welcome to the next level
It almost appears that there is something eating the mantle on my T. Crocea clam. (I only have 2 clownfish in this tank and they dont go anywhere near it)

This is only on two parts of the mantle but it is slowly getting worse.

Any ideas? Pinched Mantle?

I will have to post them later tonight. You cant really see the area Im talking about if you move farther back.

Anyone else have any ideas on this?

After a bit of looking around on this forum and others, I'm beginning to think that Im experiencing the nasty effects of Pyramid Snails. I have noticed (within the last 3-4 months) a ton of little snails that I thought were "baby" snails. Guess not. (the picture below is from another website, but the snails that I have seen in my tank are very similar) I will try to get a pic tonight of the snails that I have in my tank.

The timeline fits. My T. Crocea has never shown any signs of stress and is quite happy under my MH. Ive been reading that a 6-line wrasse will help with the removal of these snails?

i can see what your talking about in the close up photos but with them so close up i cant see what going on around the clam or the over health of the clam.

if you do have pyram snails manual removal is the only way to eradicate them. some wrasses may reduce there numbers but wont get rid of them. anyway pyrams wont cause whats happening to your clam
