whats your favorite?

I have a 29 gal. mixed reef steup, and have found that the small marine fish are filled with tons more personallity than most of the larger fish. My 29 has been more fun to watch than my 55 gal ever was. I am still stocking it and am looking to fellow reefers for their input. I was just wondering what you all had to say. What is you favorite nano fish and why? Do you have this fish, and what is it about him tha you like so well? Thanks Brandn

My favorite small fish is the blue damsel or the talbots damsel. I have both in my tank now and they are great. I know some people have not had good luck with them but mine have always been great in my reef and the activity levels and colors of these fish are fantastic.

Favorite small fish Orchid Dottys (psuedochromis fridmani)

Great personality and temperment IMO.

I have two but my cardnials are fast becomeing my favorite.

yellow clown goby, Dont have one now but they love to perch and watch you.

Flametail blenny, They hide alot but also come out to watch you when you are at the tank. I have not seen one here local lately but over at the WORC board one of the sponsors ( Aquatic Specialists) keeps them. Mine was killed by an agressive fish. I will replace it eventually. Mine did not care for algea. It ate my mix of foods.

We have two Yellow Clown Gobys. They are very cool if you don't mind them pestering the SPS. They prefer to perch in the SPS. We only have one colony that seems to be adversely affected by it.

We used to have a Gold and Blue Blenny. He was very similar to the Clown Goby in behavior, except he prefer to perch on softies. I have not been able to find another one, they are very rarely in stores.

We got a Sexy Shrimp in a group order. I did not realize how small it was going to be. I thought it would get lost in our 210g, but it has actually done quite well. It likes to get up on the rock and wave it's tail around, pretty cool to watch. Only about 1" long.

I thought about an orchid dottyback, but I have read they are aggressive and will become a bully in the tank. I love blennies and I had a tailspot, but it dissappered in the tank move. I have thought about getting another, or maybe a bi color. The 2 fish that are on the top of my list of fish that maybe added are the possum wrasse, and the blue spot jawfish.

Another tailspot blenny, nice coloration, great personality, little load...and a cute face. We have 3 possum wrasses, also an excellent choice...hold out for the orange ones.

They can be. Mine (pair) were one of the first fish in the tank they posture at times but have not really bothered anyone else. The smaller fish in the tank are 2 true percs., 2 indigo dottys lawnmover blenny, brazilian flameback angel, 2 regal angels and a purple tang. the tank is 200 gallons. Oddly enough all the smaller fish hang out on the same side of the tank.

With the bluespot you'll want to make sure you have a sufficiently deep sandbed.

Norm... that is why I haven't already picked up a wrasse, all I have found are the grey ones although I do like them I would rather an orange. Do they stay pretty active? I had a six line and loved the way he swam in and out of the rock work. And I really like the blue spot jaw fish.... they are alittle pricey.I wish I could talk at someone who has one or who ha had one.

The possum wrasses are extremely active but you will see them in the water column less than a 6-line...they stay closer to the rock. I have one orange and two gray/browns. I believe I got the red one from www.reefhotspot.com . I've had the other two about 6 years, got them from Zeppelin.

Nope. -- no sandbed well shallow a one.

I've heard they ge gittery unless they have a place to settle down and burrow into. Everything I have read has suggested 4-6 inches as a minimum for them.
