PH in the reef is 8.1 but steady.

yes...you want to stay in the range of 7.8 to 8.4. Mine stays between 7.9 and 8.2

7.9 for me it rarely gets over 8.0.

But you have to make sure it is calibrated properly to ensure that is in fact your PH. PH probes have a tendency to drift quite easily, and you may be getting a false reading. Before you do anything drastic verify it first.

I stopped fighting Ph a while ago and just concentrate on alk, ca and mag. According to my RKL my Ph ranges from 7.6-8.2 but I have seen it as high as 8.5 and as low as 7.4. Yes 6.28 is very very low not good at all.

I dont trust my PH probe... I let it dry out for a couple days by accident when I moved and now I never get a reading over 7.8 on it. I just calibrated it a week ago and when I did the ph7 cal it was 7.1 on the read out and during the ph10 cal it was 9.8.... hmmmmm not to thrilled with it ATM

+- .2 is pretty darn accurate for hobby grade probes.

I'm by no means a newbie, but I've never tested ph. What is the value in doing so? Between alk/cal/po4/mag, is there anything substantial to be gained by measuring it? Those who do measure do you buffer if it is low?

There is no too low on a reactor. The pH should be set (along with the outflow) to supply the needed amount of dissolved media to the tank. If 6.28 is keeping the tank parameters in a good range then its fine. If the Ca or alk is getting too high turn down the Co2 and raise the pH a bit . Mine runs at 6.4 to 6.6. so I would say you are in the ball park.

Thanks for the info.I was thinking i put too much media in the reactor.Reactor wasent working at all.Changed all the media.
