elegance coral
They call me EC
Like the title says. What do you believe brings out the best Polyp extension in your SPS?
Perfect flow and lighting, not too much, not too little
Removing any and all dwarf angels from the tank. When I added mine, I lost all PE, but I like the fish more then I like PE.
i removed my filter sock and carbon. and noticed a huge change
dialed in water parameters, flow, flow and more flow. i've noticed if my alk dips, my polyps retract.
Strong turbulent random flow. The more the better.
I noticed slight retraction and tested to find out my magnesium dipped from 1380 to 1300 all others being stable.
When i feed coral food i notice i get more aiptasia. save urself the cost and just feed your fish 3 times a day. Just my 2 cents

I couldn't agree more, and really it depends on what type of SPS your talking about, One thing I noticed is many of my birdsnest seem to retract thier polyps if the flow gets to much, when I dail it down a bit they come out, so finding that perfect flow that keeps all your sps happy is key i think. Some seem to like more flow and some like less, and I think thats where position of corals plays a key role too, Its a real art to placing corals in just the right spot, aquascaping can effect flow, so where you place your corals in relation to where the flow is comming and going can be important.
Many people just say the most flow you can give, but I have seen some tanks where there is sooo much flow the corals can't even extend thier polyps hardly at all, I do think there is such a thing as too much flow as well. Your corals will tell you what flow they like.
Thats just my opinion...and take that with a grain of salt as I am fairly new to the hobby....:fun2:
