Got these guys the other day through the mail. Extremely small. Just saw the wheelers goby after 3 days when I had to move some rock. No sign of the shrimp. At least I know the goby is alive. No idea about the shrimp. Does it normally take a while for them to find eachother? Do you think the shrimp is still alive? Thanks

Well I got my answer. Came home from work and lights off in tank. Took out flashlight and there are 3-4 bristleworms all over one of my cleaner shrimp.Bummer for sure because it was one of two I have and had them for 13 months nice size too. Had to be the pistol shrimp for sure. Definitely not a molt.

Sorry about your loss, but yes sometimes it takes a while for them to find each other while other times it's immediate. I like to add the goby first and let it find a home and then add the shrimp using an under-gravel tube to drop em right into place.

Thanks. I was talking to a fish buddy who thinks the pistol was probably too small to kill the shrimp. The pistol was about an inch and the cleaner was about 3 inches. Hard to think it was coincidence. Thoughts?

I doubt the tiger killed your cleaner. We have several tigers in our system that are bigger than our cleaners with no problem. if the pistol tagged your cleaner I doubt you would have found the body

Gobies and pistols do take time so be patient. Tigers are constant diggers so you should see evidence of his work. Good luck and enjoy them, we had the same pair for a while until we lost it in a power outage.

I agree that the pistol is likely innocent. Having had both the species i'd say its the goby who finds the pistol when it has a suitable tunnel network but it needs to be settled and feeling safe to explore the tank, which takes time.
