I woke up the other morning and did my usual 'lookabout' in the tank when the lights were still off and I was in instant shock and awe!!!! :eek1:

I immediately grabbed my Macro camera and shot these pics... ENJOY

When corals ATTACK!!!!!

My Acan spun a tenticle web 4" away on a frag colony of zoos and started to reel it in like it was fishing!!! Crazy!

Holy web batman. Thats awsome and sucks at the same time.

Acan 1
Zoas 0

Acans on food search at night and thought zoas were food?

It's an echinata. It's going to nuke anything around it regardless ;) They are extremely aggressive and efficient.

Those acan enchinatas can be brutal......did the polyps survive?

yes..the 4 or so you see on the right side of the macro close up that were still opened were not affected...the remaining 'closed up' ones.....done.

Thanks, glad everyone likes the pics.

Those are amazing pics! I wonder what some battles between coral look like in the great barrier reef. That would be cool to see!

Nikon D3100 with a 105mm Micro (macro) lens.

hmmm...for some reason photobucket is offline now for some maintenance :hmm4:

wow that is freaking crazy!!! The only other time i saw something like this was on that special "Life" crazy. thanks for sharing

Echinatas will be aggressive with most lps we place right next to them. I had a mycedium, chalice looking coral that would do the same thing, it would swing 4 inches tentacles until it reached something and then it would not let go... lost a few palys that way.
