If you are feeding corals then you don't use phyto--rather you feed corals zooplankton(copopods, cyclopeeze) If you have a refugium and you are producing your own copopods then feed them phyto. Phyto is eaten by zooplankton----who are eaten by corals If you use a lot of phyto then you take the risk of encouraging algae
