When it's not one thing it's another. I got this Copperband Butterfly last week and within three days it was eating mysis like crazy . Problem is she has what I think is a combination of ich and black ich.

And no, I did not quarantined it. I live in Puerto Rico and duo to our climate, it is very difficult for me to set up a quarantine tank. I’ve never had any ich on my tank, ever! All my other fish appear to be healthy (for the moment).

I guess you know you're about to get told that you'll never cure it in your tank...
but if you're dead set on not doing the "right" thing... ie treat ick and go fallow for 6months...
you should know you can treat with garlic/other food soaks and do well.
I had a blue hippo that was half dead... but I kept giving it food soaked in garlic/other additives, live brine fed with phydo, and various kinds of flake/pellet food and the guy did very well.
