When testing copper; dumb/simple question

Seachem cupramine, API test kit. The only copper kit I could find, and I had to drive 40 miles round trip to get it. And it looks to be accurate. Just wanna make sure I'm doing it right. I know your to look down the test kit and compare, but it doesn't state in the instructions whether or not I'm to hold it against the test card, or hover it above.

The API kit will not give accurate readings for Cupramine. You can order a Seachem or Salifert Cu kit online, both of which will provide accurate results.

Have YOU personally had experience with the API kits and cupramine? I've heard a plethora of mixed opinions on this subject. I'm not saying you're wrong, but how can so many people have accurate readings, and so many hate on it at the same time? I just don't get it...

Yes, I have. I have personally had it read well below the correct dosage when the other two read correctly. You have to remember that Cupramine is a unique form of copper (complexed to an amine ion), so kits that are designed for ionic or chelated copper will not give accurate results. But, if you feel you are getting accurate results, so be it.

In general, API kits are more for gross readings than precision IMO. But, that's just me. I'm not "hating" on the product; I just won't use a product that could potentially put my livestock at risk.

DO NOT USE ANY TEST KIT OTHER THAN THE MEDICATION YOU ARE USING....

I promise.. it will bite you where you dont want to be bitten.......
