when to give up on anemone?

nothing comes out of its mouth though...and is seeing the white insides from the mouth normal?

As long as you are not seeing little white stringy pieces coming out/off of the anemone, it is probably just adjusting. If the new one starts to disintegrate (looks like cotton strings) then get it out of the tank before any toxins harm the original anemone. I had one that looked like catdoc's pic, but it has come back after about 6 months and is now split into two beautiful RBTAs. Good luck!!
