When to run lights?

Hi all.

I've been running my lights for 8 hours a day, from 7am till 3pm. However I am never home at this time, so I changed it to 1pm to 9pm, so I can look at the tank when I am home. Is this not a great idea, or is it fine to do this?

The tank in near a window, which gets some direct light during the day, should I lower the blinds a little more, or will everything be ok?

Keep the direct light out. But yeah the point of having the tank is to enjoy it.

Is 8 hours not long enough for the tank? Its a Biocube.

8 Hours is ok, I wouldn't go for any longer though. It's perfectly fine to run your lights at that schedule. I run mine from 2p to 9p.

I run mine from 4-10, the off peak electricity is cheaper
